Spirit
by Lisa Everett

We are not doorways
We are the air and the space holding the frame
We are the invisible essence between the walls
Our hands holding the outline of time
Maintaining the barriers
And yet we forget
Mistaking our lives for the hard material passage
Dividing one location from another
But we already encompass
The paths and openings of all the ways
We are the flowing
We are the movement
We are the music vibrating through the open door
Old Soul
by Lisa Everett

In the shifting light
You diminish to illumination and shadow
Broken pieces of who you were: are
Shattered remains that fight to go together
I want to see you whole again
Standing with your big toes nestled in rich grass

I need to find you there
